Amy Bryant

Manager/Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer 3233

Amy is a dedicated funeral director, embalmer, and crematory operator with over two decades of experience. A Sumter native, she is a 2000 graduate of Laurence Manning Academy and a 2002 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service where she was a recipient of the South Carolina Evelyn J. Davis Memorial Scholarship.

After completing her apprenticeship in North Carolina, Amy spent 13 years there as a funeral director and embalmer, earning recognition as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner and was a recipient of the NFDA Pursuit of Excellence Award.

In 2011, she transitioned into funeral home management, serving families in Gaffney and Greenville. Amy then brought her commitment and excitement to service excellence as the General Manager of Bush River Funeral Home. She has also completed a comprehensive veterans training course and earned the designation as a Certified Veterans Funeral Professional.

Amy’s approach to funeral service reflects her belief in celebrating each individual’s unique personality and honoring their lives by planning intimate gatherings or grander scale celebrations of life tailored to the family she is serving.

Wayne Campbell

Funeral Director, Embalmer #3340, and Crematory Operator #1438

Wayne was born in Little Rock (Dillon County), SC on November 18, 1968. He graduated from Dillon High School in 1987 and graduated from Fayetteville Technical Community College in 2005 and received an Associates Degree in Funeral Service Education. He served his apprenticeship under Raymond Kannaday in Latta, SC and earned his dual license in 2007. Wayne served in the United States Marine Corps from 1987 - 1991 and was part of the 3rd Marine Air Wing. He is the very proud husband of Lynn Campbell, proud father of Courtney Marie Campbell and step-father of Mitchell Cockfield. He was also a Past Master Mason in the Mackey Lodge #77 AFM in Dillon, SC.
Wayne joined Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home in September 2013 as a Funeral Director, Embalmer and is a certified crematory operator.

W. Pete Hoogendonk II

Funeral Director and Embalmer #2678

Pete is a native of The Netherlands. He attended East Carolina University and graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. He holds a dual license as Funeral Director/Embalmer in both NC and SC. Prior to coming to Florence in 2001, he had worked in NC for 25 years. He is a member of the Florence Kiwanis Club, having served as its President, and currently serves on the Carolinas Kiwanis District Foundation Board and has been named a George Hixon Fellow. Pete served in the US Air Force during Vietnam and is a member of Florence VFW Post 3181 and Calabash, NC American Legion Post 503. He and his wife, Marti, are members of Central United Methodist Church and the Sarah Blanton SS Class.

Lenora Haynes Starling

Lenora was born and raised in Florence and graduated from South Florence High School. She is a member of Palmetto Street Church of God. She has three children and six grandchildren.

Evelyn Childers

Office Assistant

Evelyn was born and raised in Florence. She graduated from McClenaghan High School and attended Wingate College. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church. She has one son, Robert, and one granddaughter, Alexandra. She has worked for Stoudenmire-Dowling since 2015.

Wally Smith

Associate Director

Wally was born in Florence and graduated from Barnwell High School in Barnwell, SC. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a BS degree in Business with a Major in Marketing. He retired from Progress Energy (Duke Energy) with 31 years of service and joined Stoudenmire-Dowling as an Associate Director in April of 2013. He and his wife, Annette, have two children, Phillip (deceased) and Pam. He is a Deacon in the Baptist Church and currently a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Florence, serving as an usher and working with the Grief Share Ministry. Wally is active in the community, presently serving on the Florence Salvation Army Board of Directors and is a past president and current member of the Board of Directors of the Youth Mentors of the Pee Dee (formerly the Big Brothers and Big Sisters). He has previously served as the past president of the Board of Directors for the Pee Dee Kiwanis Club (now merged with the Florence Kiwanis Club) and was past president of the South Carolina Chapter of the Illuminating Engineers of South Carolina.
