William Alexander Mclaughlin

William Alexander McLaughlin, Sr., 77, of Effingham, passed away on January 1, 2021. Mr. McLaughlin was born a son of the late Flora Burch McLaughlin and Albert W. McLaughlin, Sr.He was a retired clerk with CSX Railroad and a member of Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Anne Jones McLaughlin; and brothers, Robert H. McLaughlin and Albert W. McLaughlin, Jr. Mr. McLaughlin is survived by his sons, W. Alex McLaughlin, Jr. (Dana) of Columbia, SC and Joey B. McLaughlin (Robin) of Effingham, SC; grandchildren, Hannah Grace Jones McLaughlin and Daniel Joseph McLaughlin and sister-in-law, Nobia Jones Williams of Cross Hill, SC. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church.Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Tuesday at the Church. Friends may pay their respects and sign register from 12:00 – 4:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home (family not present). Due to the current COVID-19 concerns, social distancing will be observed.
