Zeddie Poston Price

Zeddie Poston Price, 83, of Florence, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Price was born in Andrews, SC, a daughter of the late William LeLand Poston and Mildred Poston. She was an active member of Greenwood Baptist Church, and an inspiration to all members of the Ruth Garrett Sunday School Class. When unable to continue her ministry of writing cards, notes of bereavement, get well’s, or merely just letting you know I’m thinking of you, she began carrying small bags of wintergreen mints every Sunday to pass out before the worship service.This ministry continued on outside of the church as well, by taking small bags or pieces of candy and passing them out to her children, grandchildren, her hairdressers, and even her favorite nail salon.Always giving of herself, she lived by testament.“True Christians are not distinguished by their faith, but by the object of their faith” – Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elree Ray Price; four brothers, Lamar Poston, Richard “Dickey” Poston, Jackie Poston and Irby Lee Poston, and her sister, Janie Galloway. Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn Scurry (Randy); a son, David Price (Charlotte);and another daughter, PamelaMurray (Jason), all of Florence; her six grandchildren, Amy Welch (Steve), Kevin Scurry (Emily), Brookes Wall, and Kaden Michael Price, all of Florence, Travis Johnson of Greenville, Justin Murray of Charleston; and her six great-grandchildren, AnnaGrace and Layton Welch, Griffin and Hampton Scurry, Timmy Johnson and Rivers Gray; her brother, Randy Poston of Florence; and her three sisters, Mary Young and Sandra Young of Florence andAlberta Summerford of Jacksonville, FL. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Greenwood Baptist Church.Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Greenwood Baptist Church, 2401 Claussen Rd, Florence, SC 29505.
