WOODROW WILSON McWHITE SUMMERTON, SC WOODROW WILSON McWHITE, JR., 70, of Summerton, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at Regency Hospital after an illness. Mr. McWhite was born in Florence Co., SC a son of the late Woodrow W. McWhite and Gertrude Sauls McWhite.He had worked for the Florence Morning News and retired from Southern Bell having been in advertising for both.He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Pamplico. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his first wife and mother of his children, Carolyn Thompson McWhite, who passed away on June 9, 1971. Surviving are his daughter, Allison (Tom) Steiner of Greenville; son, Cory (Aimee) McWhite of Manning; grandchildren, Graylyn (Zac) Jennings of Charlotte, NC, Marc Steiner and David Steiner, both of Greenville, Grady McWhite and Brittani Steen, both of Manning; sister, Miriam (Larry) Sims of Florence; brother, Roderick Linwood (Joan) McWhite of Pamplico; several nieces and nephews; his former second wife, who is now, Veda Hyman Godman and her children, Rhonda Hyman of Charleston andJohn “Kip” Hyman and Kip’s children, Kessler, Jack and Luke and his extended family, friends at the Circle Fountainin Florence. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Free Will Baptist Church Children’s Home in Turbeville, PO Box 229, Turbeville, SC29162 or to www.lettherebemom.org, 407 Parker-Ivey Drive, Greenville, SC29607. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home chapel.Burial will follow in Aimwell Cemetery on River Road in Pamplico. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
