Woodrow W. “Woody” Walker Florence, SC Woodrow W.“Woody” Walker, 83, died Friday evening, December 28, 2012 at his home with his wife and family at his side. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Florence Baptist Temple. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Walker was born in McClellanville, SC a son of the late Thomas W. and Louise Martin Walker. He retired from Stone Container after 36 years and later founded Walker Hand Crafted Knives. He was a member of the South Carolina Association of Knife Makers, the Florence Baptist Temple, the Amity Masonic Lodge #340 A.F.M. and the Omar Shrine. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Allen, Ben, Frank and Peter Walker; sisters, Helen W. Driggers and Linda Walker. Surviving are his devoted wife of 61 years, Mary “Dean” Morris Walker; sons, Mickey (Teresa) Walker of Florence and Kim (Michelle) Walker of Raleigh; daughter, Phoebe Walker (Mark) Athey of Conway; brothers, Wade Hamp Walker and Dorman K. Walker both of Andrews; sisters, Ruth W. Zurcher and Janie W. Yarborough both of Georgetown; 12 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3 – 5 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
