Wilma Kasick Boysia Slakish, age 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2018. Mrs. Slakish was born in Swoyersville, PA on February 14, 1918, the daughter of the late John and Anna Kasick.Living during the depression was difficult.She left home at the age of 12 to work as a domestic maid and nanny and later in life at McGregor Sportswear in Nanticoke, PA.She moved to Florence, SC in 1991 to be near family.Her favorite pastime was tending her flower garden and playing rummy with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Even at age 100, she was a formidable player. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Frank Boysia, Sr. and Vincent Slakish; brothers, John Kasick, Jr. and George Kasick and sister, Margaret Kane. She is survived by her twin children, Frank T. (Dolores) Boysia, MD and Frances Boysia Capone, both of Florence; grandchildren, Maria B. (Bjorn) Sirum, Danielle B. (Robbie) Hewitt, Frank A. (Jerelyn) Boysia, Alexandra (Pedro) Esquivel and Robert V. (Dawn) Capone; 11 great-grandchildren, and niece, Sally Kane Fino of Ashley, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 4:00 PM Thursday, December 13, 2018 at St. Anne Church, 113 Kemp Street, Florence, SC 29506.A private burial will be held at a later date at the Holy Family Church in Luzerne, PA with interment at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Lehman Township, PA. After the Mass at St. Anne Catholic Church in Florence, a celebration of life for Wilma will take place at Fr. Foley Hall behind the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anne’s Catholic Church Building Fund, 113 South Kemp Street, Florence, SC29506.
