Wilma Griggs Blackwell, 79, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Mrs. Blackwell was born in Patrick, SC, a daughter of the late Amy Dixon and Roena Winburn Dixon.She retired as an Office Manager for Woodmen of the World at the State Office in Columbia, SC.Mrs. Blackwell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and volunteered for McLeod Hospice. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, James Michael Griggs, her first husband, James Hewitt Griggs, her brother, William Dixon; half-brothers, Tillman Dixon, Oliver Dixon and Wade Dixon; and half-sisters, Ida Lewis, Marie Brigman and Eva Tyner. Surviving are her husband, Bobby G. Blackwell; daughter, Michele (Beaury) Gantt of Florence; son, Mitchell Griggs of Oakland, CA; step-daughter, Shari B. Martin of Darlington; step-sons, Gary (Wendy) Blackwell and Derek Blackwell, both of Florence; grandchildren, Christopher (Natalie) Griggs of Cary, NC, Erin Michelle (Jeremy) Libby of Charleston, SC, Corey (Stella) Dixon Steverson of Florence and Kelsey E. Steverson of Florence; great-grandchildren, Cecilia Steverson and Caroline Griggs; step-grandchildren, Brandon (Lavinia) Toth of Columbia, Tyler Martin of Darlington, Erica Martin of Florence and Spencer Blackwell of Florence; and sisters, Sadie (Clyde) Edwards and Jackie Chapman, both of Society Hill, SC. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church directed by Stoudenmire Dowling Funeral Home.Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia, SC.
