William Trellis Carter, 85, of Timmonsville, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018. Mr. Carter was born a son of the late William Colon and Katie Chandler Carter of Lamar, SC.He was a veteran of the US Air Force, having served during the Korean War.Mr. Carter was a member of Southside Baptist Church for fifty years and had worked with the church for fifteen years.He retired from quality control with Nucor Steel.Mr. Carter enjoyed church, gardening, his family and working. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret Langston Carter; children, Stephen Carter (Miriam) of Effingham, Ben Carter (Kelly) of Dallas, NC, Scott Carter (Mona) of Timmonsville and Kevin Carter (Candy) of Florence; grandchildren, Katie Carter Larsen (Brandon), Chief Petty Officer Joshua M. Kelley (Katie), Sarah Carter Wiggins (Ryan), Chandler Carter, Abby Carter, Harrison Carter, Olivia Carter and Holden Carter; great-grandchild, Lillian Larsen; and sister, Wilma Carter Cooper. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter is predeceased by his brother, Austin Carter. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Southside Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
