William P. Proveaux

WILLIAM PROVEAUX FLORENCE, SC William Proveaux, 89, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, March 06, 2016 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Mr. Proveaux was born in Allendale, SC a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Proveaux and Hattie Maybell Brabham Proveaux.He was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII and retired as a salesman in the food industry.He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and played in the high school Shrine Bowl in 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William P. Proveaux, Jr.; granddaughter, Kerri Rendleman; brothers, Benjamin Franklin Proveaux, Jr., Welford Huffman, Melease Boykin, Rhunette Bowers and Ulysses Proveaux. Surviving are his wife, Katherine Warner Proveaux; daughters, Joan Proveaux (Lester) Rendleman of Myrtle Beach, SC and Diane Proveaux Dosin of Elgin, SC; step-sons, Dwight L. (Sherry) Stewart, Jr. of Summerton, SC and Mark D. Stewart of Cordova, SC; step-daughter, Martha K. Stewart of Florence; eleven grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2301 2nd Loop Road, Florence, SC29501. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in the Florence Memorial Gardens Chapel.Burial will follow in the cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
