WILLIAM THOMAS LEWIS FLORENCE, SC William Thomas Lewis, 75, of Florence, SC, formerly of Barnesville, NC, passed away on July 11, 2013 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence. Mr. Lewis was born in Fairmont, NC, a son of the late William Russell and Ruth Rogers Lewis.He was a graduate of Fairmont High School and the University of South Carolina.He served three years in the United States Army in Korea and was an instructor in the Army Security Agency School at Fort Devens, Massachusetts.Mr. Lewis was a retired Senior Agent with Allstate Insurance Company.He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church. Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janet Caldwell Lewis; two daughters, Mary Lewis (Jerome) Parker of Chapin, SC and Elizabeth Lewis (Justin) Altman of Murrells Inlet, SC; three grandchildren, Meredith Murphy, Mason Murphy and Addison Altman; three sisters, Nora (Ray) Hemby, Carol (Wayne) Page and Jean Lushis; three brothers, Richard (Bobbie) Lewis, Charles (Edna) Lewis and John (Dorothy) Lewis; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by three brothers, Benny Lewis, Stephen Lewis and Mickey Lewis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Florence.Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Barnesville Community Cemetery in Barnesville, NC, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home of Florence, SC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Saturday at the Church. Memorials may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1300 Second Loop Road, Florence, SC 29505.
