William Carroll Lawhon

William Carroll Lawhon Florence, SC William Carroll Lawhon, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday evening, June 27, 2014 in the McLeod Hospice House after an Illness. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Effingham Church of God. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Mr. Lawhon was born in Olanta, SC a son of the late Richard Lawhon and Blanche Morris Lawhon Lee. He was owner and operator of Lawhon Tree Service, which he founded in 1963 and is still continued by his son, Wayne Lawhon. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII. He attended the Effingham Church of God and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson and 8 siblings. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Ivanell Nettles Lawhon of the home; children, Judy (Bobby) Nettles of Scranton, Cindy (Jim) Polk of Florence, Wayne (Donna) Lawhon of Effingham, Joanne (Dan) Cox of Latta, Russell Lawhon of Effingham, Tommy (Pam) Lawhon of Scranton and Glenn (Theresa) Lawhon of Florence; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; special niece, Bea Ann (James) Holloman of Effingham; sister, Bessie Wilkes of Sumter; brother, Hugh (Mary Jacqueline) Lawhon of Effingham. Memorials may be made to the Effingham Church of God, 149 McLaughlin Road, Effingham, SC29541. The family will receive from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
