WILLIAM L. "BROWNIE" BEST FLORENCE, S.C. WILLIAM L. "BROWNIE" BEST, 69, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in the McLeod Hospice House after an extended illness. "Brownie" was born in Horry County, South Carolina, a son of the late William Valentine Best and Marie Clark Best.He was the owner of Best Motor Company, and had a passion for fishing, farming, Nascar and restoring old cars. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia "Pat" Moody Best; his children; William K. "Billy" Best of Columbia and Penny Best Wright of Florence; grandchildren, Curry Z. Wright and Coleman D. Wright, both of Florence; sister, Shirley Best Gustafson of Virginia Beach ; longtime friend, Jim Howle, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Robert M. Best. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 22, 2013 at Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
