WILLIAM EDWARD ROBINSON FLORENCE, SC William Edward “Ed” Robinson, died on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the McLeod Hospice House surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on February 4, 1948 in Gaffney, SC to the late William Arthur Robinson and Swayne Hedrick Robinson.He graduated at the top of his Clemson Chemical Engineering class in 1970 and earned a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M.Ed was employed at DuPont for 30 years, achieving DuPont’s Engineering Excellence Award.After retiring from DuPont, he enjoyed a second career selling real estate with Coldwell Banker of Florence.He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Florence, where he taught young married couples and was actively involved in recruiting new members for the church. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Beth Foster Robinson; sons, Scott (Tara) Robinson of Birmingham, AL and Brett Robinson of Huntsville, AL; granddaughters, Taylor Reese Robinson and Reagan Grace Robinson, both of Birmingham, AL. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 300 S. Irby Street, Florence, SC29501 or to the McLeod Hospice House, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC29502, www.mcleodfoundation.org. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2016 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home in Florence, followed by funeral services at 3:00 PM. in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. On Tuesday, April 12, 2016, the family will receive friends from 3:00-3:45 PM at Blakely Funeral Home in Gaffney, followed by a graveside funeral service at 4:00 PM in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
