William E. Barr

WILLIAM E. BARR TIMMONSVILLE, SC WILLIAM E. BARR, 83, of Timmonsville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 24, 2012 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mr. Barr was born in Florence Co., SC a son of the late Louis Friendly Barr and Meta Elizabeth Robinson Barr.He was a lifelong member of Gregg Avenue Church of Christ.He had a passion for animals, especially Chihuahuas.He was a great singer, loved dancing and performing skits with family members and was a drummer with the "Silvertones", a family band. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and retired as Department Manager after being with Sears for 37 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter, George, Wilbur and John Wesley Barr and by a sister, Lavern Lawhon. Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Nadean Oliver Barr of Timmonsville; children, Karen Barr Grimsley, Shannon Barr (Randy) Carter and William "Buddy" Clayton (Shirley) Barr, all of Timmonsville; grandchildren, Amanda Carter (David) Truett, Gabhriel Ramsey, Cherie (Brian) Blackburn, Randy L. (Jennifer) Carter, Jr. and Heather Renee Barr; great-grandchildren, Zachary M. Ferber, Hannah E. Blackburn, Logan Carter and Matthew Blackburn; a number of nieces and nephews andspecial friends, Francisco "Paco" Dominguez of Lake City and Carl Mayo of Florence. Memorials may be made to the Gregg Avenue Church of Christ, 618 Gregg Avenue, Florence, SC29501. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
