William Carlie Morris

William Carlie Morris, 81, husband of Roberta Chandler Morris, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence. Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the funeral home.Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at the funeral home chapel.Entombment will take place at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Mr. Morris was born in Clarendon County, SC, a son of the late Helen M. Morris Owens and Jessie Winston Morris. He was a graduate of East Clarendon High School and he served in the Army National Guard with an honorable discharge in 1963.He retired from CSX Railroad after 43 years and was attending Tans Bay Baptist Church. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks.Mr. Morris was a loving husband, father and grandfather.He loved to fish, work in the garden and spend time with family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; step-father, Richard Earl Owens; brother and sister-in-law, John Caswell Morris, Sr. and Louise Newsome Morris. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Roberta Chandler Morris; brother, Cecil Winston (Connie) Morris of Hartsville, SC; daughter, Connie G. Morris of Florence; son, James Carlie (Jessica) Morris of Florence; grandchildren, Christopher (Toni) Kegle of Franklin, IN, Brandon Morris, Sydney Anderson, Grant Anderson, Dominique Harriott all of Florence; great-grandchildren, Eli and Everleigh Kegle both of Franklin, IN. Family would like to thank all those who offered and provided support during his illness. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the doctors and staff of McLeod Hospice House who provided so much compassion and care for Mr. Morris.
