William Gordon Bird

William Gordon Bird, 32, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. William was born in Florence, SC,a son of Ann Cutter Bird Goebel and Melvin Wallace Bird.William was a Senior at Francis Marion University.He was an Eagle Scout , as well as a member ofthe Santee Lodge #116Brotherhood (Vigil).In addition to scouting, he loved history and music, especially that of Phish, the Yonder Mountain String Band, and the Trey Anastasia Band.Being an avid Clemson fan, he was thrilled about their National Championship. William is survived by his mother, Ann Cutter Bird Goebel; his father, Melvin Wallace Bird; his beloved brother, John Weston Bird; his sister, Britt Alexandria Bird; his aunt, Mary Alma (Henry F.) Grantham; his uncle, John Cutter;cousins, Rick Cutter;Mariann (Dan) D’ Arcangelis;and Hal Grantham; his nephews, Dalton Weir and Nicholas Bartolini; and his nieces, Madeline Weir and Brooke Weir. Memorials may be made to Boy Scout Program at Central United Methodist Church, Florence, SC. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Central United Methodist Church.A Celebration of William’s life will follow at 3:00 pm.
