William "Billy" Jennings Gibbs

William Jennings “Billy” Gibbs, 89, of Florence, SC, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015. Mr. Gibbs was born in Marlboro County, SC, a son of the late Edwin Gibbs and Verlie Riggan Gibbs.He was a Safety Director with CP & L.Mr. Gibbs was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Betty Chappelear Gibbs; sons, David Chappelear (Vicki) Gibbs and James Mark (Louise Hartzog) Gibbs; grandchildren, Rachel Elaine, Leah Memory, William Jennings III, Laura Kay and Daniel Mark; and great-grandchildren, Thomas Ryder and Nicholas Alton. In addition to parents, he is predeceased by his son, William Jennings Gibbs, Jr.; his grandson, Nicholas Gibbs and his brother, R. Houston Gibbs. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Bennettsville. Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
