Willard C. Copp, of North Port, FL, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Mr. Copp was born in South Bend, IN, the son of the late Chester Copp and Helen Millice Copp. Mr. Copp was a devoted Episcopalian, who attended Washington and Lee University and received a Bachelors in Business Administration. After attending Howe Military School, in Howe, IN, he went on to serve in the military as a part of the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps. During Lt. Col Copp’s two tours in Vietnam he managed to do 14 combat jumps in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry Division. Beyond his achievements on the battlefield, he also founded the Carolina Hi Tech Medical Equipment Inc. Mr. Copp was a member of the Kiwanis Club and was also an adopted Gamecock fan. He was known for enjoying doing house improvements.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Maj. John Willard Copp and stepdaughter, Diane P. Collins.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Margaret Jones Copp, of North Port, FL; son, Allan Moore Copp Sr., of Florence, SC; grandchildren, John Dillon Copp, of Philadelphia, PA, Capt. Allan Moore Copp Jr., of Ft. Eustis, VA, and Hixon Barnes Copp, of Florence, SC; and sister, Katy Rogers, of Columbia, SC., niece Millice Rogers Ellerbe and nephew Hon. Thomas Rogers of Columbia, SC.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Florence National Cemetery.
