Wilbur Deleon Strickland

Wilbur DeLeon Strickland, 81, of Effingham, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Mr. Strickland was born in Olanta, SC a son of the late Alex Leon Strickland and Leatha Lynch Strickland.He was a machine operator. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd Strickland, John Strickland, and Bobby Jo Strickland; sister, Leona Miles; grandson, Ethan Timmons, and granddaughter, Britney Babirad. Surviving are his wife, Winetta Matthews Strickland; daughters, Cheryl Strickland Turner, Kimberly Strickland (David) Timmons, Wendy Strickland (Trae) Stang, all of Florence; grandchildren, Ashley Turner of Sumter, Dharma Timmons, Kristina Turner, Joey Stang, and Jackson Stang, all of Florence; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Turner of Florence, Bailee, Riylee, and Robbie Babirad, all of Sumter; brother, Jerry (Barbara) Strickland of Timmonsville. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Monday, May 24, 2021 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
