Wheeler Legrand “W.L.” Carmon, 77, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
He was born in Turbeville, SC, the son of the late Carl Legrand Carmon and Elease Parker Carmon. Mr. Carmon retired from Delta Mills as a machinist. He was a member of Woodsman of the World and a part of D.A.V. Chapter 72. Mr. Carmon was a die-hard army veteran, who served his country with honor. He loved mustangs, wrestling and watching the weather and news on the FOX News channel. Mr. Carmon is remembered by his family as the #1 Supervisor.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Carl E. Springs Jr.; brothers, Donald Carmon and C.W. Carmon; sister, Kay Carmon; and granddaughter Chrisen Allen.
Surviving are his wife, of 48 years, Sherry Smith Carmon; son, Teddy (Penny) Springs; siblings, Jean Carmon, Brenda (Rusty) Timmons, Ann (Mike) Altman, Carl Edward (Brenda) Carmon, Libby (Mitchell) Robinson, Tammy (Mike) Amerson and Roy (Marie) Carmon; grandchildren, Destanee (Joseph) Poston, Brealy Springs, Maylee Springs, Skylar Springs, Dalton Springs, Cody Springs, Gladys (Anthony) Springs, Aaron (Candice) Burnett, Aidan (Eryn) Rhinehardt, and Peyton Rhinehardt; and great-grandchildren, Briggs Poston, Hayes Poston, Cooper Springs, Callie Springs, Samara Criollo, Alex Wright, Wyatt Burnett and Jamie Burnett.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Olanta Church of God of Prophecy.
