Walter Cecil Hardee

Mr. Walter Cecil Hardee, 89, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

He was born to the late Olin Hardee and Etta Matthews Hardee in Georgetown, SC on August 4, 1936.

The youngest of five children, he was raised in a farming community and attended the local schools.

He married the love of his life, the late Margaret “Evelyn” Barrineau, on November 11, 1955. This union produced two sons, Allen (Sherri) Hardee and David (Kathy) Hardee.

Mr Hardee honorably served his country in the Navy, then in the Army Reserves. He provided for his family with several careers, however, he retired from Stone Container in Florence, SC.

Mr Hardee was a faithful member of Palmetto Street Church of God for many years, where he taught Sunday School and regularly served as an usher.

Surviving family, in addition to his sons, include three grandchildren: Corey (Wayne) Cook, Brantley (Crystal) Hardee, and Britney Hardee; twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by one grandson, Scott (Sharon) Hardee and one great- grandson, Elyie Hardee.
