Walter Gregg, Sr. Florence, SC Walter Gregg, Sr., 92, of Florence, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at his residence after an illness. Mr. Gregg was born in the Mars Bluff Community of Florence County, a son of the late Charles Eli and Mable Brown Gregg. He was a lifetime member and an Elder of Hopewell Presbyterian Church. As a member of “Our Greatest Generation”, Mr. Gregg was a US Army veteran of WWII. He had retired as a Conductor for Atlantic Coast Line Railroad after 41 years of service. After retirement, he and his wife loved traveling and camping, and he was a former Southeastern Regional President of the Holiday Rambler Camping Club. Mr. Gregg is survived by his wife of 70 years, EthelMae Helms “Effie” Gregg; children, Frances (Ethan) Mozingo, Helen (Red) Holladay and Walter (Kim) Gregg, Jr., all of Florence, 7 grandchildren; sister, Katherine Beeson of Marion, brother, Frank Alexander (Grace Sherman) Gregg of VA; cousin, Ann Gregg (Larry) Mozingo of Surfside Beach, and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Florence National Cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 P.M.
