Walter Cooper "W.C." Barr

Walter Cooper “W.C.” Barr, 80, of Florence, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020. He was born a son of the late Minnie Cooper Barr and Walter Friendly Barr.He was a veteran of the US Air Force. Mr. Barr was a lifetime member of Grace Baptist Church and retired from E. I. DuPont.He was an accomplished guitarist and loved old tractors. He was a loving father and husband. He was like Jesus Christ and had a forgiving heart. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Barr; son, William Craig Barr and his twin sister, Meta Jernigan. Mr. Barr is survived by his son, Michael Lance Barr; step-daughter, Holly Gandy; grandchildren, Tara, Louis, Sarah, Sam, Cassidy and Jackie; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Barr (Patricia) and sister, Rosa Bell Barr Fludd (Billy). Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Grace Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the Church. Due to the current COVID-19 concerns social distancing will be observed.
