Wallace Peyton Hayes

Wallace Peyton Hayes, 75, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021. Mr. Hayes was born in Florence Co., SC a son of the late Samuel Joseph Hayes and Alma Lee Foxworth Hayes.Wallace served eight years in the US Army, where he was stationed in Vietnam and Berlin, Germany.He earned his Associates Degree in HVAC from Florence-Darlington Tech and was a machinist with General Electric for over 30 years.He was a member of Elim Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Cecelia Rebecca Hayes, and a brother, John David Hayes. Surviving are his wife, Sheila Mack Hayes of Florence; daughters, Tiffany (James) McDaniel of Johnsonville, SC and Susan (Jeremy) Bryson of Marion, SC; grandchildren, Chris (Brittney) Powell, Amber (Jeremy) Miles, and Andrew Powell, all of Johnsonville, SC, Jriston Bryson and Briley Bryson, both of Marion, SC; great-grandchildren, Hunter Miller of Pamplico, SC, Bailee Powell and Gracelynn Miles, both of Johnsonville, SC, and Grainger Brown of Florence; brothers, William Hansel (Carol) Hayes of Yorktown, VA and Joseph Lenair (Barbara) Hayes of Mooresville, NC; sister, Alma Joann )Lavone) Matthews of Florence, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elim Baptist Church, 1303 Olanta Highway, Effingham, SC29541. A memorial service will be held at Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
