Virginia Oakley Moore

Virginia Oakley Moore, 86, of Florence, SC, went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2016. Mrs. Moore was born in Effingham, SC, a daughter of the late John Ernest Oakley and Ellen Turner Oakley.She retired as the assistant manager of the lunch room at Wallace Gregg Elementary in Florence School District #1.Mrs. Moore was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her son, Franklin E. (Barbara) Moore of Florence, SC; daughters, Carolyn A. (Wade) Herron of Leesville, SC, Shirley (John) Moore of Florence, SC and Wanda (Bill) Christmas of Florence, SC; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Jeffords of Timmonsville, SC and Anna Martin of Elgin, SC and sister-in-law, Gloria Jean Oakley of Effingham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Moore; her brother, Jerry “Buddy” Oakley and two sisters, Doris Munn and Nettie Myers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
