Virginia H. Cole

Virginia H. Cole, 91, of Florence, formerly of Rockingham, NC passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on Sunday, October 27, 2019 in a local healthcare facility. Mrs. Cole was born in Darlington, a daughter of the late Ila Parnell Hutchinson. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Rockingham, where she was very active for many years. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, G.E. Hutchinson and her sister, Frances H. Warr, and the love of her life, her husband, Harold C. Cole. She is survived by her daughters, Sally (Jerry) McCown, and Debra (Sandy) Dowling; her grandchildren; Ginny McCown, Amanda Dowling, Courtney ( Tommy) Freeman, Sonja (David) Tedder, and Betsy (Ned) Dargan; great-grandchildren; Wyatt Durette, Thomas Freeman, Cullen Freeman, Anna Belle Tedder, Emma Tedder, Edwin Dargan, and Eliza Dargan. A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday October 30, 2019 at Eastside Cemetery, Rockingham, NC, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will greet friends following the service and at other times at the residence of Debra and Sandy Dowling.
