Violet Oliver Surles

Violet Oliver Surles, 89, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014. Mrs. Surles was born in Timmonsville, a daughter of the late Willard Sebastian Oliver and Bessie Viola Cussac.She retired as a clerk after twenty-five years of service at J. J. Drug Store. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Jennings Surles; two sons, Dan Oliver Smoke and Vernon Surles; two grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters. Surviving are her daughters, Paula (Jeffrey) Gossage of Bremen, GA and Patsy (Gerard) Wachowski of Florence; four grandchildren, Mandy James, Teresa Caperton, Jennie Conner and Jonathan Doyle; seven great-grandchildren; her brother, James Oliver of Sumter and her sister, Dot Rogers of Florence. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Entombment will immediately follow.
