VELMA LOUISE “WEEZIE” BETHEA JOHNSON LATTA, SC VELMA LOUISE “WEEZIE” BETHEA JOHNSON, 59, of Latta, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness. Mrs. Johnson was born in Dillon, SC a daughter of the late Herbert Bethea and Sarah Lee Legette Bethea.She was associated with Friendship Baptist Church in Dillon, mother of the Weeping Willow Baptist Church in Marion and associated with Tabernacle of Prayer for all People, Inc., in Hinesville, GA.She was known and loved for the cooking that she did for her church and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonnie Joseph “J-Bo” Johnson, who died December 30, 2001; an infant son, Lonnell and infant daughter, Jennifer, as well as three grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Deborah Ann (Donny) Pearis of Florence, Donald R. Johnson of Atlanta and Deah L. (Jimmy) Johnson-Price of Atlanta; sisters, Evelyn Ann (Bernard) Campbell, Lois Evon (Johnny) Davis, Sarah Hermenia (Nathaniel) Jackson and Sheila (David) Grice, all of Latta; brothers, Jerome (Enevelyn) Bethea and Herbert (Edna) Bethea, both of Latta and twelve grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, July 5, 2013 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow at the Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
