Thomas “Tommy” Scott Hewett, 64, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Tommy was born to the late George Edwood Hewett and Edith Boyd Hewett. Tommy was a 1973 graduate of Wilson High School.On August 13, 1977 he married his soulmate.He retired from DuPont after 24 years of dedicated service.Tommy was an avid sports fan, loved music, and adored his wife and children.He was a devoted husband, father, and friend.He loved everyone and everyone loved him.His infectious laughter would brighten even the darkest of days.Tommy is at peace now after bravely battling cancer for eight years.Go Cocks! In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Donna Richardson; father-in-law, George S. Nichols, Jr., and brother-in-law, Toby Nichols. Tommy is survived by his wife, Kathy N. Hewett; daughters, Jessica Hewett (Lisa Dart) of Asheville, NC and Shannon Hewett of Florence; brothers, David Hewett (Mary) and Ben Hewett (Pam); mother-in-law, Ann S. Nichols; sisters-in-law, Terry Shoemaker and Ann B. Nichols; brothers-in-law, George S. Nichols, III and John Nichols (Michelle); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and his beloved Hospice team, including Kesha Franks, Michael Thomas, Reverend Glenn Carter and Dr. Vipul Shah. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with a celebration of life to follow from 7 – 8 PM in the funeral home chapel.
