Thomas "Fuzzy" Edgar Baxley

Thomas ”Fuzzy” Edgar Baxley, Sr., 70, of Florence, SC, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018. Mr. Baxley was born in Hemingway, SC, the son of the late Margaret Durant Baxley and Angus Edgar Baxley.Fuzzy graduated from Hemingway High School in 1966 and joined the United States Air Force where he served from 1966 – 1970.He worked in the tire business from 1973 until his retirement and continued to help his son, T.J., at Baxley Tire Service.He was passionate about the business and the many friends he met.Fuzzy was also a big South Carolina Gamecocks fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don Carter. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Chris Baxley; children, Thomas “T.J.” Edgar Baxley, Jr. (Bridget), Andrew Edgar Baxley (Ashley Leonard) and Crystal Marie Baxley, all of Florence; grandchildren, Mallory Chandler Baxley, Meredith Logan Baxley, Thomas Lawson Baxley, Nichole Christine Douglas and Braylyn Grace Baxley and Ayden Andrew Baxley; brothers, Basil (Alma) Carter of Hemingway, Rene (Diane) Burdette of Mississippi and Wayne D. (Micky) Burdette of Moncks Corner and his furry friend, Max. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Monday, February 26, 2018 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home and other times at the Baxley residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
