Theodore Dominic “Ted” Vinzani, 90, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, January 09, 2018. Ted was born in Scottdale, PA, a son of the late Ascenzo G. Vinzani and Lucia Chiaravalle Vinzani.He was a US Navy veteran having served during WWII and a graduate of University of South Carolina where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree.Mr. Vinzani worked as the Senior Compliance Officer for the US Department of Labor in its Wage and Hour Division in Florence for over 20 years.He was a member for over 50 years of St. Anthony Catholic Church and served as President of the Parish Council, Chairman of the Finance Committee and taught Sunday School.He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 60 years and was a 4th degree Knight.He coached the 17 and under church basketball team for 21 years and won many championships.He later was a respected referee in the church industrial and high school basketball leagues.Ted was also involved in Boy Scouts, serving as Scoutmaster and Unit Commissioner.His four sons are all Eagle Scouts and he was awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver award.Ted and his wife, Gladys, were volunteers at McLeod Hospital for many years and Ted is the recipient of the McLeod’s Merit Award which recognizes those who consistently exemplify service of excellence standards. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys Atkinson Vinzani, who passed away on February 7, 2017, and siblings, Sunda Fiesta Carbanara, Alfred Vinzani, Ben Vinzani, Gilbert Vinzani, Eddie Vinzani and Louise Jakubak. Surviving are his sons, Ted (Pam) Vinzani of Milwaukee, WI, Steve (Ben) Vinzani of Asheville, NC, Jeff (Victoria) Vinzani of Charleston, SC and Tim (Debbie) Vinzani of China; grandchildren, Evan (Casey) Vinzani-Meetze, Rianna Vinzani, Mark Vinzani, Spencer Wright, Michael Vinzani, Jr. and Jackson Vinzani; sisters, Agnes Hudock, Irene Conty and Amelia (Tom) Radziwon; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Vinzani; brother-in-law, Bob Jakubak and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 11:00 AM Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.A private interment will be held at a later date.
