Thadis Weldon Thompson, Sr., 77, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at his residence. Mr. Thompson was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Lemuel Thompson and Ida Lou Tanner Thompson.He was a retired truck driver and had worked for OverNite Transportation and Old Dominion Freight Lines.Mr. Thompson was a member of Shiloh Church of God of Prophecy in Coward and a former Sunday School Teacher and Deacon at Willow Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church.He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who instilled his love and work ethic in his family. Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years, Mary Tiller Thompson; his sons, Danny Thompson and Thadis W. Thompson, Jr. , both of Florence; his grandchildren, Crystal (Chris) Antwine of Coward, Robert Thompson, Kayce Thompson, Kyle Thompson and Abby Thompson, all of Florence; his great-grandchildren, Wyatt Antwine and Dylan Antwine, both of Coward,Kenley Thompson and Carson Thompson both of Florence; and his siblings, Pearline Creel of Pamplico, Betty Hartfield of Johnsonville, Gladys Thompson of Florence, Geraldine Adams of Conway and Warren Thompson of Florence. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Church of God of Prophecy Building Fund, 703 E Friendfield Road, Coward, SC 29530. The family would like to express their special thanks to Agape Hospice, including Dr. Jon Docherty, Tom Witt, Ken Garland and Loretta Brown.
