Susan Dowdy

Susan Dowdy, 73, of Florence, SC, passed away August 10, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late Harold “Arnold” Dowdy and Argene Yeatts Dowdy.

Susan had a long and dedicated career in health care, beginning at Bruce Hospital and concluding after 32 years of service at Carolinas Hospital System. She was deeply loved by her family, friends, and patients alike. Guided throughout her life by a strong Christian faith, Susan was a fierce protector of those she held dear. She shared a special bond with her sisters, especially during their cherished fishing trips. Susan also had a deep love for golden retrievers, especially her beloved fur baby, Luke, who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Gail Guess.

She is survived by her sisters, Cheryl (Bubba) Allen and Sally Crowley; brother-in-law, David Guess; nieces and nephews, David Alan (Caitlin) Guess, Brandon (Kayla) Maloch, Ashley Guess; and great nephews, Ollie Guess, Cooper Guess and Maxton Maloch.

A memorial service will be held Thursday August 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 2930 Masters Way, Darlington, SC, 29532.
