Stephen Wayne Shaw, 48, of Florence, passed away on October 3, 2016 from injuries sustained in a car accident. Mr. Shaw was born in Portland, Maine a son of Helene Kutcher Shaw and the late Phillip Bradley Shaw, Sr.He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Hewas the founder of the Owl’s Nest Recovery Community, where he dedicated his life work to helping alcoholics and addicts. His service has lead many to achieve sobriety that helped restore their lives and rebuild their families. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Sandra Jean Fitzgerald Shaw; sons, Michael Stephen Shaw of France and Alexander Fitzgerald of Florence; daughter, Kimberly Dianne (Brian) Ready of Greenwood; brothers, Phillip B. Shaw, Jr. of Florence and Fred A. Shaw of Lynchburg; sister, Kimberly S. Shaw of Florence and three grandchildren, Olivia, Isabella, and Kaela Ready. Above all, Stephen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. His legacy will continue to live on through his family, the many lives he touched, and the community he helped build. He was a great mentor and friend to all and his presence will be greatly missed. Memorials may be made to The Shaw Foundation at Owl’s Club International Inc., which will provide scholarships for addicts and alcoholics seeking recovery.The mailing address is 3525 W Forest Lake Drive, Florence, SC 29501. The family will receive friends from 11:00AM - 1:00PM Friday at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
