Stephen Eugene Rhodes

Stephen Eugene Rhodes of Fairfax, VA, formerly of Florence, SC passed away Friday, July 11, 2025, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born in Circleville, OH to the late Patricia and Thomas Rhodes.

He grew up in Florence and graduated from Wilson High School in 1974. A dedicated community member, he volunteered with the Windy Hill Fire Department and spent much of his career working in sales, where his warm personality and easy conversation made him a natural.

Steve had a special gift for making others laugh and he truly never met a stranger. His passions included playing volleyball, shooting pool, and sharing his quick wit and jokes with everyone around him. His sense of humor and kindness made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandparents, Elizabeth and Samuel Miller and Clarice and Leo Rhodes.

Surviving are his daughters, Jessica and Stephanie Rhodes; grandchild, Connor Rhodes; and siblings, Sheila Pegram, Diane Roof (Lee), Susie Steagall (Allen), Lisa Privette (Tom), Michael Rhodes, Laura Garrett (Steve), and Melissa Ward; a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; special friend, Christina Suthammanont.

He leaves behind a wide circle of cherished friends in Fairfax, whom he considered his chosen family.

The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Stoudenmire-Dowling with the service to follow at 2:00 PM. A private family interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
