Sibylla Becker

Sibylla Becker, 91, died Friday, December 11, 2015 at The Heritage Home of Florence. She was born August 2, 1924 in Machenbach, Germany, a daughter of the late Ernst and Helen Hirshfeld Lessmeister. She moved to New York as a young girl, and after marriage moved to Florence with her family. She retired from First Union Bank as branch manager of the Dargan St. location, formerly known as Guaranty Bank and Trust. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Peter George Becker, Jr.; two sons, Peter Ernst (Angela) Becker and Steven Eugene (Amy) Becker, all of Florence; two daughters, Karen Becker (Mike) Rotan of Florence and Susan Becker (Wendell) Rowell of Lancaster, SC; grandchildren, Jonathan (Bailey) Edmonds of Rock Hill, SC, Brooke Becker (Jason) Smith, Kayla Rotan, and Blake, Madison, and Austin Becker, all of Florence; and great-grandchildren, Emrick, Becker, and Ellis Edmonds, all of Rock Hill. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex and Gene Lessmeister. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home in Florence.
