Shue Chun Lui, 76, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 25th, 2025. A devoted husband and dutiful father, he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Chui Ha Lui; his sons Wing Hong Lui and Wing Tai (Quynh) Lui; and granddaughter Aria Mai Lui. Also surviving are his brothers Shu Yiu Louie, Shu Shun Lui, Shu Piu Lui; and sisters Fung Yee Lui, Yuet Yee Lui, and Wei Yee Lui along with an extended family of beloved nieces and nephews.
Born on March 2, 1949, in Guangzhou, China, to the late Wai Kit Lui and Ying Tse Tsui, Shue Chun experienced a life marked by significant trials, triumph and tribulations. He proudly served in the British Army in Hong Kong in his young adulthood, marked by pride, honor, and commendation. After the British Army, Shue Chun developed a keen acumen for business and succeeded in his business ventures in Hong Kong and China.
In 1987, Shue Chun took a leap of faith, emigrating from Hong Kong to the United States with his young family, to venture into the restaurant industry and into business with his brothers and sister. Shue Chun has owned and operated multiple Chinese restaurants embedded into the history of Florence from the earliest in House of Louie (1987-1989, 1990-1996) to establishing Golden Crown (1993-2000), and finally his latest jewel, Lui's China Bistro (2005-present). Each of those restaurants stood as a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and the tireless hours and sacrifice spent by his family in bringing those ventures to fruition.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm – 2:00 pm Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
