Shirley Elizabeth Brown

Shirley Elizabeth Barkalow Brown, 79, of Florence, SC, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016. Mrs. Brown was born in Farmingdale, NJ, a daughter of the late Edwin Barkalow and Viola Schiedt Barkalow.She was a teacher’s assistant and accountant.Mrs. Brown was a member of Gospel Temple Worship Center and a sailor’s wife.She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.Mrs. Brown was a hugger. Surviving are her husband, William Glenn Brown; sons, Charles (Karen Patris) Cook, Jr. of Wakefield, MA, Edwin Scott (Dena) Brown of Pamplico, Kenneth (Trudy) Cook of Swansboro, NC, Michael (Iris) Cook of Florence, Douglas Cook of Charleston, John Cook of Williamston, SC and William (Lisa) Brown, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Rebekah Cook (Scott) Osman of Florence; son-in-law, Robert Kirkley of Goose Creek, SC; seventeen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Cook; daughter, Karen Kirkley; and sisters, Jean Allen and Margaret Dewolf. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Christian Assembly Church. Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
