Shelley Rogers Almers Florence, SC Shelley Rogers Almers, 39, of Florence, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2013 in a local health care facility after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Almers was born in Florence, a daughter of Francis Lacon and Barbara Jean Yarborough Rogers.She graduated from Converse College with a B.A. in Music Education.Shelley was a Piano Teacher and a Homemaker.She was a member of Newman Swamp Southern Methodist Church and attended Sardis Baptist Church, where she was the Music Director. Surviving are her loving husband of sixteen years, Kevin J. Almers of Florence; two children, William Lacon Almers and Evelyn Ruth Almers both of Florence; her parents, Francis Lacon and Barbara Jean Yarborough Rogers of Lamar;a brother, Bryan (Starr) Lacon Rogers of Timmonsville; grandmother, Fleetwood Shelley Rogers Locklair of Lamar; a special grandmother, Corrie Mae Bell of Lamar; father-in-law, William Michael Almers of Florence; mother-in-law, Carole (Don) Hall of Florence; and brother-in-law, Michael Edward Almers of Florence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Sardis Baptist Church.Burial will follow at 4:00 PM in the Rogers Family Cemetery, 1120 Lee State Park Road, in Lamar, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
