Sheila Rhodes Pegram of Rock Hill, SC, passed away peacefully December 26, 2025, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born in Columbus, OH to the late Thomas and Patricia Rhodes.
She grew up in Florence and graduated from Wilson High School in 1971. As the eldest of eight children and being a natural caregiver, she continued this calling, becoming a registered nurse and graduating from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1974. She paused her career to raise her three daughters and resumed nursing in 2000, before retiring in 2014.
She was heavily involved in her girls’ schools, attending PTA meetings and helping in the classrooms. Her daughters’ extra-curricular activities kept her busy, as they continued her love of dance. They performed in The Nutcracker ballet, just as she had in her adolescence, and nutcrackers became one of their most cherished traditions. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her best friend Deb. She had a quirky sense of humor and loved deeming people “Bronze Goddess”, thus adding them to her elite club of individuals that showed exceptional traits. She loved angels, her big family, the color peach, gardenias, and most of all, sunshine. In her later years, she loved being “Lollie” to her three grandsons, attending their school functions and sports games.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by grandparents, Elizabeth and Samuel Miller and Clarice and Leo Rhodes, and brother Steve Rhodes.
Surviving are her daughters, Lindsay Pegram Mineck (John), Carly Shannon Little, and Heather Riley Hilldale (Devin); grandsons, Michael, Grayson, and Christian Mineck; and siblings, Diane Roof (Lee), Susie Steagall (Allen), Lisa Privette (Tom), Michael Rhodes, Laura Garrett (Steve), and Melissa Ward; a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:30 AM Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Fair Hope Church, 1114 East Lynches River, Lamar, SC, with the service to follow at 12:00 PM. A private family interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Angels, holyangelsnc.org or Fair Hope Church.
The family would like to thank Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House of Hospice and Community Care for their tender loving care of Sheila during her final weeks, and their loving support of the family during this difficult time.
