FLORENCE, SOUTH CAROLINA Scott Alan Goda, 48, passed away Monday, July 03, 2017 at his residence after an illness. Scott was born in Limestone, Maine, a son of Richard (Susan) Goda and Connie Dawson (Gary) Elliott.After serving four years in the US Marines, he served as an officer with Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and he enlisted in the Army National Guard as an MP with the 132nd Military Police Company. He served in Okinawa, Iraq and Afghanistan and was awarded many commendations, including the Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge. He was a member of the Florence Baptist Temple. Scott is preceded in death by a sister, Melanie Redden. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Angelena Goda of Florence; his sons, Justin (Jhoana) Goda of Beaufort and Wyatt Goda of Florence and his grandson, Eric Goda of Beaufort. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 6, 2017 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will be held in Florence National Cemetery at a later date.
