Sammie Lynch Florence, SC Sammie Lynch, 89, of Florence, passed away Friday, May 08, 2015 at the McLeod Hospice House after a brief illness. Mr. Lynch was born in Florence County, a son of the late John Henry and Epstein Kennedy Lynch. He was a graduate of Elim High School where he excelled in athletics, and later attended USC. As a member of “Our Greatest Generation”, he was a US Army Veteran of WWII, and had retired from EI DuPont, Florence Plant. He was a founding member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, anda member of the Tri-County Senior Golf Association. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patsy Fowler Lynch, his son Kenneth (Karen) Lynch of Murrells Inlet and their children, Eydie(Greg), Ryan and Jeremy;two daughters; Sylvia (Rufus) Lewis of Murrells Inlet and Lydia (Robert) Vermillion of Florence and their daughter, Miranda; also three great-grandsons, Lucas, Avery and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Willard Lynch and a sister, Annie Lou Anderson. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
