Ruth Keefe Locklair, 78, beloved sister, mother and grandmama, who was affectionately known as “Mama Ruth” by her 10 grandchildren, passed away on February 27, 2014, peacefully at McLeod Hospice House after a long battle with diabetes.Mrs. Locklair was born in Pamplico, a daughter of the late Frank Sr. and Gussie Lewis Keefe. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-five years, Harry Lee Locklair; son, Johnny Ray Locklair; brother, Lewis Keefe and grandson, Jimmy Ray Locklair. Surviving are her daughters, Patty (Jerry) Burns and Vera (Andy) Farmer, both of Pamplico; her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Kevin) Boyle, J. J. (Angie) Burns, Anisha (Robert) Watkins, Joey (Rita) Farmer, all of Pamplico, and Melissa (Jeremy) Weems of Isleham, England.Mrs. Locklair has ten great-grandchildren; her siblings, Lois Gaster, Frank Keefe, Jr., Doris (Faye) Thompson and Nell (Garland) Bernard. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Prospect United Methodist Church, Big Swamp Road, Pamplico.Interment will follow at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Hyman directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
