Russell Wade Culberson

Russell Wade Culberson, 74, of Florence, passed away Monday, July 4th, 2016 at MUSC in Charleston. Russell was born in Florence, a son of the late John William and Nora Mae McMillan Culberson. He was the Owner and Operator of Railroad Contractors, Inc. Russell spent much of his life in service to Florence County in many capacities. He served 21 years on Florence County Council, 10 years on the Economic Development Authority and also served several years on the Florence Regional Airport Commission. Russell was an avid hunter and fisherman.He loved his friends and family. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Ruth Culberson; his son, Russell Wade Culberson, Jr.; his daughter, Kim Culberson Gardner; and 2 grandchildren, Whitney Gardner and Justin Gardner. In Addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, John William Culberson and his sister, Margaret Elizabeth Boykin. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
