Ruby V. Sanford

RUBY V. SANFORD FLORENCE, SC Ruby V. Sanford, 90, previously of Virginia Beach, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 27, 2013, at her daughter’s residence in Florence, SC. Mrs. Sanford was born in Hertford, NC a daughter of the late Hayden Spruill and Margaret “Maggie” Rogerson Spruill. She was a member of the Azalea Garden Church in Virginia Beach for approximately 60 years. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a son, George “Mel” Sanford. She is survived by her loving husband, George Edward Sanford, with whom she would have celebrated 74 wonderful years together on Monday, December 30, 2013, children, Joan Brandon and her husband, David of Florence, Terry Sanford and his wife, Sharon of Virginia Beach; daughter-in-law, Gerry Sanford of Chesapeake, 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 31 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, South Chapel. Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery.
