Ronald "Ronnie" Gene Mcelveen

Ronald “Ronnie” Gene McElveen, 79, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, June 02, 2019. Mr. McElveen was born in Turbeville, SC a son of the late Edward Carl McElveen and Silema Welch McElveen.He retired from Merita Bakery as a mechanic and had served in the US Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Jane Mosely McElveen in 2006 and by a son, Douglas Gene McElveen. Surviving are his son, Edward Carl (Dena) McElveen of Effingham; daughter, Ronda (Wesley) Owens of Florence; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Tracy (Jan) McElveen and Lloyd McElveen, both of Turbeville, and Vernon (Cindy) McElveen of Batesburg-Leesville; sisters, Myrna Thames of Columbia, Carolyn (Wendell) Morris of Manning, and Mary (James) Beasley of Turbeville. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with the service to be held at 1:00 pm in the chapel.Burial will follow in the Florence National Cemetery with military honors.
