Rogers W. Kirven, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 31, 2013 in a Florence health care facility after an illness. Mr. Kirven was born in Darlington Co., SC a son of the late Luke and Theo Gandy Kirven.He was a graduate of the USC School of Law in 1951 having passed the SC Bar on December 3, 1950 and practiced law for over 50 years.He was a US Army veteran having served in the Philippines during World War II where he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.He was a faithful believer and a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the Lion’s Club and a Masonic Lodge member and Past Master of the Flintville Lodge # 158. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Janice Bonnette Kirven of Florence; children, Bonnita K. (Richard) Andrews, Laura L. Kirven, John R. (Tammy) Kirven, Marcia K. McNeil and Renee K. Wilson, all of Florence and Rogers W. (Pam) Kirven, Jr. of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Taylor E. Broach, Bryce W. Broach, John Rogers Kirven, Anna K. Spurlin, Jane H. Kirven, Charles E. Kirven. Jonathan R. Kirven, Rebecca M. Kirven, Charles P. Matthews, Jr., Leah Matthews, Maggie McNeil and Jennifer H. Deberry and a number of great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 3, 2013 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Burial will follow at Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
