Roger Dale James

Roger Dale James, 58, of Florence, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015. Mr. James was born in Florence, SC, a son of the late Henry Edward James, Sr. and Ella Mae Shumake James.He was self-employed as a general contractor. He was an avid animal lover, rescuing and caring for stray and injured animals throughout his life. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Terry Lee James, Larry O’dell James and James Edward Prosser. Surviving are his son, Roger Dale (Tiffany) James, Jr.; three daughters, Tracey James and Michelle J. (Justin Vearil) Flowers, both of Sumter, and Katelyn James of Florence; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers, H. E. James, Jr. of Effingham, Ronald Ray James of Timmonsville and Anthony Wade James of Florence; sisters, Jean (Sonny) Harris, Kate J. Prosser, Sheila J. Yarborough and Tammy (Tony) Garris, all of Florence and his loving canine companion, Jack. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Palmetto Street Church of God.
