Robert Sidney "Sid" Sims

Robert Sidney “Sid” Sims Darlington, SC Robert Sidney “Sid” Sims, 62, of Darlington, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 in a local hospital after an extended illness. Sid was born in Winnsboro, SC, a son of the late Nathaniel Wade Sims and Lizzie Mae Wilson Sims Hasty. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a US Marine. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, and was currently working at King of King’s Church in the Childrens’ Ministry. He loved the Carolina Gamecocks and was an avid golfer. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Linda Jean Smith Sims of Darlington; son, Rev. Matt (Ruth Farris) Sims of Hanahan; daughter, Beth (Chris) Caron of Springfield, VA; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Arthur, Bernie, Mary Alice, Thomas and Lily; brother, Jeff (Carolyn) Sims of Clarkesville, TN; sister, Gloria Gardner of Baton Rouge, LA and his step-mother, Fannie Sims of Winnsboro. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. A private interment of his ashes will be at a later date in the Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
