Robert Sherrill Johnson

Robert Sherrill Johnson, 94, of Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Mr. Johnson was born in Wilmington, NC, the son of the late Rachel Godwin Johnson and Chesley Lee Johnson. He retired after 41 years as Director of Retail Sales with Interstate Bakeries (Merita). He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as a former Trustee, Deacon, Church Treasurer, and Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Johnson was a member of West Florence Camp of Gideons, a former member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and the Gooney Birds Model Airplane Club. He was also a member of Tri County Senior Golf Club and Pee Dee Seniors Golf Association.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Colonel Robert S. Johnson, Jr. (USA Retired); great-grandchildren, Clayton and Madelyn Carraway; brother, Frank Johnson; sisters, Jean Quick and Joan Lee.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo Flowers Johnson of 77 years on May 9, 2026; his daughter, Debbie J. Woodward (William); grandchildren, Stephanie Carraway (Anthony), Trey Woodward (Maranda), Jessy McDonough (Jason) and Zach Johnson (Glãucia); and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Entombment will immediately follow.
